The Downtown Hope Center began as the Downtown Soup Kitchen over 30 years ago in a garage, fueled by a vision to share the love of God with Anchorage’s homeless. Operating out of a little red house on 4th Avenue, they provided nearly 300 cups of soup each day to homeless and low-income families.
In 2012, they moved into a new facility on 3rd Avenue customized to fit the needs of those they serve. In addition to regular services, they expanded their programs to shelter women overnight and create opportunities for guests to gain experience and marketable job skills. Feed Me Hope Bakery opened its doors in March 2016 to women staying in the shelter, followed by a culinary training program for men and women. Future plans include barista training and a food truck.

Young Life’s mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. They do that by praying for young people, going where kids are and building personal relationships with them, earning the right to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, providing fun, adventurous, life-changing and skill-building experiences, and preparing kids for a life-long relationship with Christ and a love for his word, his mission and the local church. MOPS is an acronym that stands for “Mothers of Preschoolers” because it began in 1973 when a group of moms with young children banded together to share their lives and parenting journeys. Over the past 45 years, MOPS has expanded to include ALL moms. In addition, they partner with churches and organizations worldwide to equip and encourage moms in more than 68 countries.
Community Covenant’s MOPS group has been meeting since 2004, helping support hundreds of moms through the journey of parenting with education, recreation, discipleship, and fellowship. Website: mops.org
