Position Summary 
The Worship Ministry Director is a part-time ministry position responsible for planning and leading the primary worship services of Community Covenant Church. This role gives leadership to the overall direction, health, and development of the worship ministry, while partnering closely with the Worship Ministry Associate, pastoral staff, and volunteer teams to cultivate Christ-centered, biblically rooted, and spiritually engaging worship gatherings.

Planning and leading Sunday worship, building teams, and shaping the worship culture of the church

RELATIONSHIP TO MISSION 

The Worship Ministry Director helps advance CCC’s mission by planning and leading worship that supports the preaching of the Word, forms people in the way of Jesus, and invites the congregation into wholehearted participation in the life of God. 
This role is not simply about music selection or platform leadership. It is a formative ministry role that helps shape the atmosphere, theology, participation, and leadership culture of gathered worship at CCC. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
Worship planning and leadership 
  • Plan and lead the primary Sunday worship services in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and ministry staff.
  • Select songs, Scripture readings, and service elements that align with the biblical theme and preaching direction of each service. 
  • Lead worship in a way that is spiritually rooted, musically strong, and invitational for the congregation. 
  • Help shape gatherings that are thoughtful, cohesive, and responsive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. 
  • Provide leadership for seasonal services and other special worship gatherings throughout the year.

Volunteer recruitment, development, and care
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and shepherd volunteer musicians, vocalists, and worship leaders.
  • ​Build a healthy team culture marked by humility, spiritual maturity, relational warmth, and musical excellence. 
  • Invest in volunteers not only as team members, but as disciples of Jesus. 
  • Develop a pipeline for identifying and raising up future worship leaders and musicians within the church. 

Ministry oversight and collaboration 
  • Provide vision and direction for the overall worship ministry of CCC. 
  • Partner with the Worship Ministry Associate and relevant volunteers to strengthen systems, communication, and preparation that support Sunday worship. 
  • Work collaboratively with production and technical volunteers to support excellent and distraction free services. 
  • Coordinate with other ministry leaders as needed for church-wide events and special services.
  • Participate as a collaborative member of the church staff team and contribute to the larger life and mission of the church.

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES 
  • Deeply committed to Jesus, the authority of Scripture, and the spiritual formation of the church.
  • Gifted in leading congregational worship with both pastoral sensitivity and musical competence.
  • Able to create worship gatherings that are Christ-centered, engaging, and aligned with the mission of the church. 
  • Relational, warm, and able to lead volunteers with humility, clarity, and encouragement.
  • Organized, dependable, and capable of planning ahead while remaining flexible.
  • A collaborative team player who values unity and serves well within a healthy staff culture. 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 
  • Experience leading worship in a local church context. 
  • Ability to lead vocally and instrumentally. 
  • Experience recruiting, developing, and caring for volunteer teams. 
  • Familiarity with service planning, rehearsal leadership, and worship-related technology.
  • Ability to think both pastorally and strategically about worship ministry. 
  • Formal training in music, ministry, or theology is helpful but not required.
