How to Take Great Photographs

Photography in Alaska is huge. There is so much to learn. Dan Shepherd is a local photographer whose pictures often appear in the Alaska Star and other publications. Dan will present and answer your questions so that you can take a great photos.

Dr. George Mastroyanis will walk through the 24 hours of amazing events around Christ's crucifixion and the way they were foretold by the prophets. This will be an audio-visual presentation. Dr. George Mastroyanis is professor of education at UAA.

Wednesday, July 8, 6:30-8pm

This question comes up a lot in Alaska. We will briefly explore the history and beliefs of this faith and honetly look at what we have in common and where we differ. This will be done in the spirit of Jesus, which is truth and grace. Presented by Pastor Mark.

Themed Dinner

Come join us for a family friendly "themed dinner" prepared by Susan Chun and Stacey Pratt (great cooks). Relax and enjoy delicious food, exchange of culture, and good conversation in the company of friends, new and old. More details to come as date approaches.

What About the Other Gospels?

Wednesday, July 22, 6:30 - 8pm

Much has been made in the media about other gospels, documents that didn't make it into the Bible that supposedly shed new light on the life of Jesus and the early Christian movement. This class will help you sift through the claims being made, in a search for truth and error. Presenter is Matt Monkemeier. He is working on a Master of Divinity degree.

Salmon Barbecue and Basics of Fly Fishing

Wednesday, July 29, 6:30-8pm

This was a hit last year so an encore. We will show you how to catch, prepare, and cook salmon - a must for Alaskans. We will cover both fly-fishing and lesser forms of fishing! Presented by Pastor Mark and friends.

Summer Park Days

Thursdays, June 4 - August 20 10am - noon

At the park next to Blockbuster, weather permitting. Bring the kids and hang out.

Youth Group

Sunday nights, 6:45 to 8:15pm No youth group on 7/12 or 8/9.

Move-up Sunday for new freshmen and new 7th graders is August 16.

Senior After Parties

Sundays after Youth Group, June 28 Barbecue at Nanci's house. August 2 to be announced.

4th of July Celebration and Baptism

Saturday July 4th, 12noon at Mirror Lake

We will share in a picnic/barbecue, hear testimonies, see baptisms, sing songs and enjoy fellowship. If you are interested in being baptized on July 4th please contact the church office or talk with one of the pastors.

Family Camping

July 10 - July 12 Trail River near Kenai Lake

A great time for the family to get away together. A campground with restroom facilities. Call Susan Casey if you have questions.

Men's Hiking Trip and Fishing

July 29- July 30

21.5 mile hike to Russian River fishing sites. Cabins come with row boats; space is limited to six so please sign up in the Welcome area. If you have questions please call Dave Ham.

Men's Fishing

July 31 - August 3, Russian River

This is a time for men, dads and sons to spend time fishing together. If you have questions please call Dave Ham.

Free Community Health Fair

August 8, 10am to 3pm

Information booths, back-to-school and sports physicals, blood sugar level checks and medication checks. Also blood pressure, cholesterol, mammography and vision screenings. Call Stacey at the church office with questions.

Safe Sitter Certification Course
